Ms. Brennan has worked with the Firm for over eleven
years in its litigation department, starting as an associate and currently
as a shareholder. Her litigation practice spans a broad range of subjects,
including condemnation, a specialty in Minnesota utilities law, contracts,
ERISA, business law, administrative law, criminal defense, municipal
prosecution, insurance, employment law, unlawful detainer, and other
regulatory areas. She has had experience with both civil and criminal jury
trials. She has conducted administrative trials. She has worked on appeals
to the Minnesota Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Supreme Court, the Eighth
Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Some notable cases include representing municipal
utilities in service territory issues, contract, and appellate litigation
work, as well as the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission to stop the
“contraction” of the Minnesota Twins team. Within the past few years, Ms.
Brennan has conducted multiple condemnation trials with the amount in
controversy exceeding one million dollars. She has participated in multiple
administrative trials and appeals involving determining compensation for
electric service territory acquisitions by municipal utilities. And she has
multiple other condemnation matters pending for electric service territory
acquisitions.
Ms. Brennan has also worked with a number of cities
throughout Minnesota in filing, processing, and maintaining client liquor
licenses.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Brennan clerked for the
Honorable Harriet Lansing, of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
