Personal: Mr. Straughn resides in Saint Paul with his wife, Mavis. He is involved in a number of civic activities. He currently serves as a member of the University Avenue Central Corridor Task Force (a task force appointed by the Saint Paul Planning Commission to study development issues related to the proposed Central Corridor light rail transit line), as a member of the Land Use Committee of the St. Anthony Park Community Council, and as a member of the Economic Development Committee of the Midway Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, Mr. Straughn has served as President and Delegate to University UNITED (an economic development coalition serving the Midway district of Saint Paul), Co-Chair of the University Avenue Corridor Initiative (merged into University UNITED), President and Director of Midway Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair and Delegate of the St. Anthony Park Community Council and Chair of its Physical Planning Committee, member of light-rail task forces of the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority, Director of the Minnesota Chapter of the Christian Legal Society, and Secretary and a Director of the Ramsey County Historical Society.
